15 years of the KidsCare Morges crèche: meeting with Jamuna Streuli, director
In April, the KidsCare crèche in Morges celebrates its 15th anniversary. 15 years of an important local player active in early childhood. Located in the Gottaz district, the bilingual English-speaking structure opened its doors in April 2011 under the name Cap Canaille, with a strong desire: to offer quality care to preschoolers in an environment conducive to their development and exploration, in particular, thanks to bilingualism, daily outings but above all 2 adjoining gardens.
Over the years, the crèche has evolved to meet the needs of families in the Morges region. In particular, it became part of the Babilou group in 2016, strengthening its expertise and network in the field of early childhood in Switzerland and beyond.
From the beginning, the nursery, a pioneer, offered a bilingual French-English welcome, promoting language awareness from an early age.
Several key stages have marked its development:
• the complete renovation of the premises in 2021,
• the rebranding under the name KidsCare in 2023, with the introduction of 100% organic or local meals
• and more recently, the renovation of the gardens in 2025, in order to offer children quality outdoor spaces
Today, the KidsCare Morges crèche supports many families every day with a caring educational approach, supported by a committed and experienced team. The city of Morges has trusted us through the implementation of several partnership agreements since 2025.
An inspiring journey in early childhood: from trainee to director
On the occasion of this anniversary, we are honouring Jamuna Streuli, director of the daycare, who has been present since the opening. Her career perfectly illustrates the possibilities of development in the early childhood professions and within our company, from training as a child educator (EDE) to nursery management.
Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
I am 38 years old, married and have two children aged 7 and 3. I like to travel, cook and have friends over for a meal. I live a few minutes from the nursery, which makes my professional and family organisation much easier.
How long have you been working in early childhood?
I have been working in the field of early childhood for 19 years, including 15 years at the KidsCare crèche in Morges.
I started when it opened in 2011 as an educator in training. After obtaining my diploma as a child educator (EDE), I quickly took over responsibility for the nursery sector.
A few months later, I moved to a position of executive assistant, and I have now been the director of the crèche for 6 years.
I am currently completing a CAS in project management and team management at the HETSL.
What made you want to do this job?
Since I was a little girl, I have loved taking care of young children. I did a lot of babysitting and I took care of my brother and sister a lot.
I often say that people who work in the social field don't get there by chance. Part of my personal story has certainly strengthened my desire to help and care for others, especially young children. I like the work in an educational team and the relationship with families when they entrust their child to us.
For me, it's a job with passion. Every day, I don't feel like I'm working and I don't count my hours, because it's important to guarantee a quality care in the crèche and to give the best of yourself.
What did you do before arriving at the KidsCare crèche in Morges?
I obtained a CFC as a Community Health and Care Assistant (CHSA). My initial goal was to become a midwife, but after an internship in maternity, I realized that I wanted to be more in touch with children.
I then did an internship in a kindergarten in Rolle, then worked for two years in a private crèche in Nyon, which confirmed my choice to work in an early childhood care facility.
What is your role as a nursery director?
I would say that I am mainly the relay between the educational teams and the families, and I ensure the safety of the children and the proper functioning of the nursery on a daily basis.
I welcome new families, I accompany the employees in the care of the children and I coordinate the overall organization of the daycare.
What are your main missions?
I participate in weekly and monthly pedagogical conferences, which are essential to develop our educational practices in nurseries.
I supervise the orders (food, hygiene, educational materials), the management of budgets and the investments necessary for the proper functioning and development of the structure.
Of course, I also ensure the safety of the children and compliance with the standards of early childhood care in Switzerland.
What do you like best about your days at the nursery?
Every day is different, but I especially enjoy the moment when I greet my whole team and the children in each group.
I know each child by their first name, which allows me to maintain a personalized link with them, even as a director.
How do you think KidsCare is different?
KidsCare stands out for its professional development opportunities in early childhood: CFC, EDE, HES training or continuing education.
There is a real team spirit and a strong human link between management and employees.
The mutual aid between the different nurseries in Switzerland is a real asset, as is the sharing of knowledge between professionals.
The versatility of the profession also allows you to acquire skills in nursery management, human resources, organization and educational projects.
I particularly appreciate the trust that has been placed in me over the years to evolve and flourish in my role as director.
Quality support for families
A message you would like to pass on to parents?
The educational team is there to take over and it is essential to build a partnership with families to ensure optimal care for the child in the nursery.
Parents are their child's first educators, and their feedback is precious.
Each family is welcomed in accordance with its educational values, and everything is done to respect the child's rhythm so that he or she feels good on a daily basis.
Working in early childhood: a profession with a vocation
Any advice for someone who wants to work in a nursery?
The early childhood profession allows you to develop essential human skills: patience, kindness, empathy and communication.
It is also a creative profession, where we offer activities adapted to each age.
It is important to enjoy teamwork, to take initiative and to continue to train, because teaching practices are constantly evolving.
Educational activities at the heart of everyday life, 3 things you love to do with kids
• Musical activities, which quickly captivate children
• Cooking activities, even in the nursery
• Meal and changing times, conducive to an individual bond
• Outdoor walks, essential to discover nature and the seasons
Children need to go out, discover their environment and get some fresh air regularly.
