Montessori daycare: a pedagogical approach to learning from an early age
Today, more and more daycares are drawing inspiration from various pedagogical approaches. This trend reflects parents’ expectations when it comes to childcare solutions for their babies and young children.
In addition to the Montessori method, KidsCare daycares also integrate the Pikler and Reggio Emilia approaches. These pedagogies offer a rich educational experience focused on the needs of the child.
A closer look at the Montessori approach, applied in an adapted way in each of our daycares.
Montessori pedagogy in daycare: an approach centered on the baby’s rhythm
At KidsCare, we consider babies and young children as active, competent individuals capable of taking initiative. Children naturally and actively participate in their own development when they are in a suitable environment that allows them to explore and nurture their abilities.
The fundamental principles of Montessori pedagogy
The goal of Montessori pedagogy is to help each child grow with confidence and thrive fully. There is no rigid framework. Babies and young children explore at their own pace. They naturally develop their skills and become active participants in their own learning.
Activities and games designed for babies and young children
The environment of a Montessori daycare is designed to meet the needs of babies and young children. The furniture, adapted to their size, allows them to explore freely and safely. Each activity and game is carefully selected to develop fine motor skills. The layout of the space encourages discovery, stimulates curiosity, and builds self-confidence.
How do we integrate Montessori pedagogy at KidsCare?
It is essential for us to encourage babies and young children to become aware of themselves and their environment.
KidsCare educators do not intervene unnecessarily but guide the child in their discoveries. This process allows the child to experience their sensory abilities and to learn through trial and error without judgment.
Taking the time to discover and to live in the moment is an integral part of our philosophy.

In practice, what does this mean for your child ?
In all KidsCare daycares, we apply the principles of Montessori pedagogy in an integrated way and adapt them to each location. This approach is expressed through various means: the use of Montessori materials (games, activities, and educational tools), themed workshops, and a global approach that permeates the daily life of babies and young children.
Each KidsCare daycare adapts Montessori pedagogy according to its specific characteristics and needs. In particular, for preschool groups, more in-depth workshops are offered, with dedicated spaces and structured learning times designed to promote optimal concentration.

Our KidsCare team and Montessori certifications
In our daycares, the Montessori method is at the heart of our educational approach. It is important to note that it is certain members of our teams who are Montessori-certified, not the daycares themselves.
Although Montessori certification courses exist, they are not necessary to implement the main principles of this teaching method. The key lies in understanding and applying its fundamentals: respecting each child's pace, supporting independent learning and creating a stimulating and appropriate environment.
Our team undergoes regular training to ensure that the method is implemented authentically and effectively. The KidsCare daycare in Bern EFIB, run by Barbara Chappuis, a certified Montessori director, perfectly embodies this approach. As she points out:
Autonomy in children does not mean teaching them to fend for themselves, but rather offering them the opportunity to discover their own abilities through appropriate activities. By giving them the right materials, we allow them to do things for themselves, without intervening, so that they can build and develop their self-confidence. We do not help children by doing things for them, but by giving them the freedom to act, experiment and learn at their own pace.
Enriching teaching approaches : Montessori, Pikler and Reggio Emilia
At KidsCare, we have chosen a multi-pedagogical approach. The Montessori method is enriched by the Pikler and Reggio Emilia pedagogies, among others, to offer children even more comprehensive development.
These combined pedagogies have a common goal: to create an environment conducive to the fulfilment and creativity of babies and young children, in a dynamic of respect and kindness.

Why choose a Montessori daycare ?
Choosing a Montessori nursery means offering your child a safe and stimulating environment where they can flourish at their own pace.
Beyond this approach, we promote strong values that guide our raison d'être: the pedagogy of tomorrow. We are committed to transforming our pedagogy into action by adhering to high quality standards and incorporating the latest research to offer an increasingly modern educational experience.
At the same time, our goal of positive growth is at the heart of our strategy: we are convinced that by offering high-quality education, we can contribute to the creation of a more dynamic and prosperous society.
An education enriched by the Pikler and Reggio Emilia pedagogical approaches offers a comprehensive and flexible educational experience, allowing each child to flourish in an environment that respects their pace and needs.
Even when applied in a non-strict manner, Montessori pedagogy remains a powerful tool for encouraging autonomy, self-confidence and respect for others.
Thanks to this approach, we prepare children not only for the transition to school, but also for a promising and fulfilling future.
